Peculiarities of plastics metallization process

By methods of chemical metallization of aqueous solutions metal layers can be obtained on any surface if they are stable in plating solution. To initiate autocatalytic reaction chemical metallization it is necessary to make the coated surface catalytically active. There are to methods to initiate chemical activation:

The classic way, which consists of two sequential processes - sensitization in tin salts solution and activation in palladium salts solutions. Direct activation in solutions containing both stannous tin and palladium salts.

The efficacy of activation is proportional to the amount of palladium left on the surface of plated plastic.

МТ-812 Series wetting agent


Chemical composition:wetting agent

Wetting add MT-812: 12 ml/l
Sulfuric acid: (D = 1,84): 120 ml/l

The treatment was carried out at ambient temperature for 2-3 minutes.

The use of wetting additives improves hydrophilic properties of the surface of the electrically-treated plastic.


Wetting agent reduces the surface tension of the liquid, thereby allowing liquid to spread more evenly on the solid surface. Wetting agents wet the surface reducing adhesion within the fluid.

МТ-833 Series chemicals for plastics surface activation


Chemical composition:

Activating add MT-833: 20 ml/l
Activating add MT-833B: 920 ml/l
Salt acid: 60 ml/l


It is used to activate plastics surface, has good colloidal palladium activity.

The activation is carried out at temperature of 25-45 ℃ for 1-5 minutes.

МТ-866 Series reagent for chemical nickel planting of plastics


Chemical composition:reagent for chemical nickel planting of plastics

Chemical additive MT-866Mu: 100 ml/l
Chemical additive MT-866A: 100 ml/l
Chemical additive MT-866B: (additinaly)
Nickel concentration: 6 g/l


The electrolyte includes low concentration alkali, chemical deposition of nickel is carried out at low temperature (30-50 ℃), pH 8.5 under continuous filtration during 5-20 minutes. The deposition rate ≥ 10U / h. The cycle of electrolyte operation to 8-10 cycles.

Reagents for chemical nickel plating of plastic products are widely used for nickel plating car parts: wheels, bumpers, individual parts, plastic surfaces (dashboard, shift knob, etc.). Nickel can add individuality to any car, motorcycle and other vehicles or personal belongings of the owner.
